Type 1: Presumptive Survey
This survey locates, as far as is reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspected Asbestos Containing Materials in the building and assesses their condition. No samples are taken and any material, which can reasonably be expected to contain asbestos, must be presumed to contain asbestos.
Type 2: Sampling Survey
Standard sampling, identification and assessment asbestos survey. The procedures used are the same as for Asbestos Survey Type 1, but in this case samples are collected from the site and analysed for the presence of asbestos. The location, condition and extent of all Asbestos Containing Materials and suspected Asbestos Containing Materials identified during the asbestos survey are recorded in the form of an asbestos register.
Type 3: Pre-Demolition / Major Refurbishment Survey
Full access sampling and identification asbestos survey. This survey is used to locate and describe, as far as is reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the building and may involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas. This survey does not assess the condition of the asbestos since it assumes that it will be removed, but highlights any areas requiring immediate attention.
